I must say that I jumped on the opportunity to have a birthday theme that didn't revolve around commercialism. Up until this point I haven't forbidden it but I do sigh a bit when the boys want their party to be based on the latest fad in the store aisle. Cowboys seem so wholesome and traditional. It also worked out really well because Warren will be sharing his birthday celebration with his cousin (who spends most of his time wandering around wearing a large cowboy hat and holsters).
In honor of both their birthdays this Friday Finds is dedicated to The Cowboy.

Great pics! I love the silhouette on the wall--though my boys are a bit old for it!!
A friend of mine once suggested red bandannas for napkins at a cowboy party.

We've had several cowboy parties, the most recent one for one of our daughters :)
One fun thing we did was to use paper grocery bags to let the kids make their own vests. We fringed the bottom and then wrote their cowboy name on the back.
We ate baked beans and hot dogs on pie tins and they all drank (root) beer. I made two sheet cakes, one with plastic cowboys on it and the other with plastic Indians.
Instead of pin the tail on the donkey, we had a Wanted Poster of the birthday girl and the party-goers tried to pin a mustache on her.
Water guns are great party gifts (although I'm usually anti-party gifts.)
Hope you all have fun!
You could borrow a saddle and throw it over a straw or hay bale for great photos! What about making a cake in the shape of a cowboy hat? Stick horse and gunnysack races would be fun. I wonder if the goat on your farm is big enough to ride? We used to ride our goat and sheep when we were little!
Wow- great ideas, Mom. Totally forgot about all that! :) Maybe one day I'll post something on my own blog.
I love the theme for a birthday party! Sounds like a lot of FUN! Such great cowboy items. Thank you so much for including my custom personalized growth chart. :)
